EV CountryThe Tesla plant east of town means lots of EVs.
UT AustinMove-in and move-out weeks jam West Campus.
Festival SeasonSXSW in March and ACL in the fall pack the city.
  1. West Campus

Streets around UT are narrow and packed with apartments and parked cars. Plan to meet the driver at a lot with room to load, especially during move-in.

  2. Hills to the west

Westlake, Lakeway and the roads toward the lake are steep and winding. The driver may meet you at a main road like Bee Cave Road or RM 620.

  3. Festival weeks

During SXSW, ACL and race weekend, downtown and the roads near the venues jam up. Pick dates around them if you can.

  4. Registering in Texas

You have 30 days after moving. Travis and Williamson counties test emissions, so get the inspection first, then visit the county tax office.

FAQ

Questions About Austin

Is Austin to California a common route?

Yes. Texas to California is one of the routes we book most. Austin to Los Angeles is about 1,410 miles, mostly on I-10. See the route board above.

Can you ship my Tesla?

Yes. Teslas ride on regular carriers. Aim for about a third to half a charge, and show the driver how to put it in Transport Mode.

How should I plan around SXSW or ACL?

A week or two of notice is a good habit any time. During festival weeks, set pickup away from downtown, or pick dates just before or after.
