South Carolina Questions
Do you ship between South Carolina and Georgia or Florida?
Yes. South Carolina to Georgia and South Carolina to Florida are routes our customers book often, in both directions. Give us both addresses and your dates, and we’ll match you with a vetted carrier on that lane. Get a quote.
Can a carrier get into a gated community on Hilton Head?
It depends on the community. Many gated plantations require a pass, and some don’t allow large trucks. We usually meet at a lot on US-278 or near the gate. Tell us your community when you book.
What do I need to register a car in South Carolina?
Start with your county: South Carolina generally requires the vehicle property tax to be paid before the SCDMV will register a car. Then title and register with the SCDMV, with South Carolina insurance. Check the SCDMV for the new-resident deadline.
I have orders to Fort Jackson, Shaw or Joint Base Charleston. Can you help?
Yes. All three are close to I-20, I-26 or I-95, easy stops for carriers. Have your orders and report date handy, and ask about our military discount; proof of service is required.
What does it cost to ship a car to or from South Carolina?
Distance, the vehicle, open or enclosed, and the season. Charleston to Atlanta is a short run; Myrtle Beach to New York is a long one. Get an exact quote or call (424) 453-1800.

City-by-city shipping notes
From the Upstate’s plants to Lowcountry gates, notes on the main cities:
Charleston
The peninsula’s narrow streets, live oaks and tidal flooding make downtown pickups tricky. We meet at a wider street or a lot.
Mount Pleasant and Summerville
Fast-growing suburbs over the Ravenel Bridge and up I-26, often with HOA rules about big trucks.
Columbia
The capital and USC, where I-20, I-26 and I-77 meet. Fort Jackson is on the east side.
Greenville
The Upstate’s biggest city, on I-85 and I-385 between Atlanta and Charlotte.
Spartanburg and Greer
BMW’s largest plant in the world sits between them on I-85.
Rock Hill and Fort Mill
Charlotte’s South Carolina suburbs, on I-77.
Myrtle Beach
The Grand Strand on US-17, busy every summer and popular with retirees and snowbirds.
Hilton Head and Bluffton
Gated communities like Sea Pines need a pass and may not allow a carrier inside. We meet at a lot on US-278.
Beaufort
Marine Corps Air Station Beaufort and Parris Island, in the Lowcountry.
Sumter
Shaw Air Force Base, east of Columbia on US-76 and US-378.

Charleston and the Lowcountry
Downtown Charleston was built long before car carriers. Narrow streets, low live oaks and king-tide flooding make pickups on the peninsula slow, so we usually meet at a wider street or a lot off the Crosstown. Mount Pleasant, Daniel Island and Summerville are easier, though many neighborhoods have HOA rules about trucks. From June to November, keep an eye on hurricane forecasts and leave room in your dates.
The Upstate
Greenville and Spartanburg sit on I-85, the main road between Atlanta and Charlotte, so carriers pass through every day. BMW’s plant near Greer and the companies around it bring a steady stream of new arrivals. Clemson students move in each August; book early and plan on a lot near campus. See student car shipping.
