FAQ

Mississippi Questions

Can a carrier use the Natchez Trace Parkway?

No. Commercial trucks aren’t allowed on the Natchez Trace, so carriers use I-55, I-20 and the US highways instead. If you live near the Trace, we’ll meet you on a road that allows trucks.

Is fall a good time to ship a car to Biloxi or Gulfport?

Yes, if your dates can flex. Hurricane season runs June through November. When a storm is in the Gulf, carriers hold pickups and deliveries on the coast until it passes and the roads are clear.

I just moved to Mississippi. How do I register my car?

Mississippi gives new residents 30 days. You register through your county Tax Collector’s office. Bring your title or lienholder details, proof of insurance and your ID, and check with your county for anything else.

Do you ship cars for families at Keesler, Columbus and Meridian?

Yes. Have your orders and report date handy, and ask about our military discount; proof of service is required.

What does it cost to ship a car to or from Mississippi?

Distance, the vehicle, open or enclosed, and the season. Jackson and the Coast sit on interstates; rural Delta towns take a little more planning. Get an exact quote or call (424) 453-1800.

City-by-city shipping notes

From the Memphis suburbs to the Gulf, notes on the main cities:

Jackson

The capital, where I-20 meets I-55. Ridgeland and Madison to the north are mostly newer neighborhoods.

Gulfport and Biloxi

The Gulf Coast on I-10, with Keesler Air Force Base and the casinos. Hurricane season shapes the calendar here.

Hattiesburg

Southern Miss and Camp Shelby, on I-59 and US-49.

Southaven and Olive Branch

DeSoto County, just south of the Tennessee line in the Memphis area.

Tupelo

Northeast Mississippi on I-22, near Toyota’s Blue Springs plant. Elvis was born here.

Oxford

Ole Miss. Game-day Saturdays in the Grove fill the town.

Starkville

Mississippi State, off US-82. Football weekends get busy.

Meridian

Where I-20 meets I-59 in the east, home to Naval Air Station Meridian.

Vicksburg

On the bluffs over the Mississippi, where I-20 crosses into Louisiana.

Columbus

Columbus Air Force Base, on US-82 and US-45 near the Alabama line.

The Gulf Coast

Biloxi, Gulfport, Ocean Springs and Bay St. Louis line I-10 and US-90 along the water. Keesler Air Force Base brings military moves all year, and the casinos and shipyards bring new jobs. Beach-side condos rarely have room for a carrier, so we usually meet at a lot off US-90 or I-10. From June to November, keep an eye on the Gulf and leave a little room in your dates.

Game Days in Oxford and Starkville

On home football weekends, Oxford and Starkville fill with fans, and streets near campus close. A carrier can’t get near the Grove or Davis Wade on a Saturday, so schedule student pickups for a weekday, and book August move-in early. Ask about our student discount when you quote.
