Maryland Questions
Did the Key Bridge collapse change car shipping in Baltimore?
A little. Since the Francis Scott Key Bridge fell in March 2024, the I-695 loop has a gap, and traffic crosses the harbor through the I-95 and I-895 tunnels instead. Carriers plan around it, but pickups near Dundalk and Sparrows Point can take a little longer to reach. The bridge is being rebuilt.
What does Maryland require when I register a car from out of state?
Maryland gives new residents 60 days. Most used cars must pass a Maryland Safety Inspection at a licensed station before the MVA will register them, and many need emissions testing after that. Bring proof of Maryland insurance. Check the MVA for the details for your car.
Do you work with families at Fort Meade, Andrews and Pax River?
Yes. Have your orders and report date handy, and ask about our military discount; proof of service is required.
Does the Bay Bridge slow down shipping to the Eastern Shore?
In summer it can. Friday and Sunday traffic on the Chesapeake Bay Bridge backs up for miles, and high winds can restrict trucks on the span. For Ocean City and the Eastern Shore, a weekday pickup or delivery is easier.
What does it cost to ship a car to or from Maryland?
Distance, the vehicle, open or enclosed, and the season. The I-95 run to Florida gets busy in the fall. Get an exact quote or call (424) 453-1800.

City-by-city shipping notes
From Baltimore rowhouses to Eastern Shore beach blocks, notes on the main cities:
Baltimore
Rowhouse blocks in Fells Point, Canton and Federal Hill are tight for a carrier, so we meet at a wider street nearby. I-95 runs under the harbor through the Fort McHenry Tunnel.
Columbia
Howard County’s planned town between Baltimore and Washington, on US-29 and close to I-95.
Silver Spring and Bethesda
Montgomery County, just over the D.C. line. Apartment towers and tight streets usually mean a meeting spot.
Odenton and Laurel
Next to Fort Meade, home of the NSA, between Baltimore and Washington.
Annapolis
The capital and the Naval Academy. Historic downtown streets are narrow brick.
Frederick
Where I-70 meets I-270, an easy stop for carriers heading west.
Hagerstown
Western Maryland, where I-70 crosses I-81.
Salisbury
The Eastern Shore’s hub, on US-13 and US-50.
Ocean City
Ten miles of beach and heavy summer traffic on US-50 and Route 90.
Lexington Park
Naval Air Station Patuxent River in Southern Maryland, on MD-235.

Baltimore Pickups
Most of Baltimore was built before cars, let alone 75-foot car carriers. Rowhouse streets in Fells Point, Canton, Federal Hill and Hampden are narrow and lined with parked cars, so most city pickups meet at a wider street, a park edge or a store lot nearby. Carriers reach the city on I-95, I-83 and I-895. Tell us your block when you book, and we’ll plan the spot.
The D.C. Suburbs
Montgomery and Prince George’s counties see a steady flow of government, military and contractor moves. Beltway traffic can stretch a pickup window, so plan on a range of time rather than an exact hour. Apartment buildings rarely have room for a carrier out front; many have a loading area or a nearby lot that works. If you’re moving between Maryland and Northern Virginia, see Virginia car shipping.
The Eastern Shore and Ocean City
Everything east of the Chesapeake comes over the Bay Bridge on US-50, or up US-13 from Virginia. On summer weekends the bridge backs up for miles, so weekday dates work best for Ocean City, Easton and Salisbury. Beach blocks in Ocean City have little room for a carrier, and we usually meet at a lot on Coastal Highway.
