Louisiana Questions
What happens to my shipment if a hurricane is coming?
Carriers don’t drive into a storm. If one is forecast, pickup or delivery moves to after it passes and the roads reopen, and evacuation traffic can tie up I-10 and I-49 for a day or two. Hurricane season runs June through November, and the busiest months are usually August to October.
Can a carrier come into the French Quarter or Uptown?
Usually not. Big trucks are restricted in the French Quarter, and many Uptown and Garden District streets are narrow with low oak branches. We meet at a wider street or a lot nearby. During Carnival, parades close streets for weeks, so check the parade calendar before you pick a date.
I just moved to Louisiana. How do I register my car?
Through the Office of Motor Vehicles (OMV) or a licensed public tag agent. You’ll need your title, proof of Louisiana insurance and your ID, and most cars also need a Louisiana inspection sticker, the brake tag. Check the OMV for the deadline and anything your parish adds.
Do you work with families at Barksdale and Fort Polk?
Yes. Have your orders and report date handy, and ask about our military discount; proof of service is required. Fort Polk is off the interstates, so give us a little extra notice.
What does it cost to ship a car to or from Louisiana?
Distance, the vehicle, open or enclosed, and the season. Storm season and Carnival can both shift dates. Get an exact quote or call (424) 453-1800.

New Orleans Pickups
New Orleans is hard on big trucks. The French Quarter restricts them, Uptown and the Garden District have narrow streets under low live oaks, and many neighborhoods have no driveways at all. Most city pickups meet at a wider street or a store lot nearby, such as a lot off Tchoupitoulas Street or Veterans Boulevard. Carnival season starts on January 6, and in the weeks before Mardi Gras, parade routes close streets on many days, so check the calendar before you choose a date.
Hurricane Season
From June through November, carriers keep an eye on the Gulf. If a storm is coming, pickups and deliveries move to after it passes, and evacuations can fill I-10, I-12 and I-49 for a day or two. If you’re moving during the busiest months, August to October, leave a few days of room on both ends.
