Oregon Questions
Does the Siskiyou Summit affect shipping between Oregon and California?
In winter it can. The Siskiyou Summit is the highest point on I-5, about 4,300 feet, and snow can bring chain requirements or a closure. Carriers wait for it to clear, so leave a day of room from November to March.
Does my car need a DEQ test after I move to Oregon?
If you live in the Portland or Medford areas, most likely. Oregon’s DEQ tests most cars there before they can be registered. Elsewhere in the state, it usually isn’t required. Check the DEQ and the Oregon DMV for your address and the registration deadline.
Can a carrier get over the Cascades to Bend in winter?
Yes, but chain rules on Santiam Pass, Willamette Pass and Mount Hood can slow things down. From November to March, keep your dates flexible and we’ll plan around the weather.
Do you ship to the Oregon coast?
Yes. The coast is reached on two-lane highways over the Coast Range, and many towns have narrow streets. We usually meet at a lot on US-101.
What does it cost to ship a car to or from Oregon?
Distance, the vehicle, open or enclosed, and the season. Pickups along I-5 are the simplest. Get an exact quote or call (424) 453-1800.
Oregon Cities We Ship To
City-by-city shipping notes
Most Oregonians live in the Willamette Valley along I-5. East of the Cascades and out on the coast, plan a little more. Notes on each city:
Portland
Where I-5 meets I-84. Close-in neighborhoods have narrow streets and few driveways, so we usually meet nearby.
Hillsboro and Beaverton
Westside suburbs on US-26, home to Intel and Nike.
Gresham
East of Portland on I-84, at the mouth of the Columbia Gorge.
Salem
The capital, on I-5 in the Willamette Valley.
Eugene
The University of Oregon, on I-5 at the south end of the valley.
Corvallis
Oregon State, a short drive off I-5 on US-20.
Bend
Central Oregon over the Cascades on US-97 and US-20. Mountain passes often need chains in winter.
Medford and Ashland
Southern Oregon on I-5, just north of the Siskiyou Summit.
Hood River
In the Columbia River Gorge on I-84, known for its wind.
The Coast
Astoria, Newport and Coos Bay on US-101, over the Coast Range on two-lane roads.

Portland Pickups
Close-in Portland neighborhoods were built for streetcars, not 75-foot car carriers. Narrow streets, street trees and few driveways mean most pickups in Southeast, Northeast and Northwest Portland meet at a wider street or a lot nearby. The suburbs, from Beaverton and Hillsboro to Gresham and Happy Valley, are usually easier. Tell us your block when you book.
I-5 and the Passes
Most cars between Oregon and California travel I-5 over the Siskiyou Summit, the highest point on the whole interstate. In winter, snow there can bring chain controls or close the road for a time. East of the Cascades, Bend and Central Oregon are reached over Santiam Pass, Willamette Pass or Mount Hood. From November to March, leave a day or two of room in your dates.
