Phoenix Up Close
Summer heat
From June to September, an early-morning pickup is easier on everyone. Take out sunscreen, aerosol cans and electronics, since a closed car gets dangerously hot.
Monsoon season
Summer storms can bring walls of dust and sudden flooding. Carriers pull over and wait them out, so keep a little room in your dates from June through September.
Moving for a new job
New chip plants and offices across the Valley bring relocations from everywhere. Moving on the company’s dime? Our business relocation page explains how that works.
New to Arizona?
Arizona asks new residents to register right away, and in the Phoenix area most cars need an emissions test first. More on our Arizona page.

Questions About Phoenix
Is it OK to ship a car to Phoenix in summer?
Yes. Carriers run all year. In the hottest months, plan an early pickup or delivery, make sure the battery is healthy, and take out anything that shouldn’t sit in the heat.
Do I need an emissions test in Phoenix?
Most likely. Arizona tests most cars registered in the Phoenix metro area. Get the test, then register with ADOT’s Motor Vehicle Division right away.
What happens if a dust storm hits?
The driver pulls off and waits it out, the same thing ADOT tells everyone to do. It can delay delivery a few hours, and we’ll keep you posted.
