City-by-city shipping notes
From the Cincinnati suburbs to the river towns in the west, notes on the main cities:
Louisville
The largest city, where I-64, I-65 and I-71 meet at the Ohio River. Derby week in early May fills the town.
Lexington
Horse farms and the University of Kentucky, on I-64 and I-75. Farm lanes are narrow, so we usually meet at the road.
Bowling Green
Home of the Corvette Assembly Plant and the National Corvette Museum, on I-65.
Northern Kentucky
Covington, Newport and Florence, across the river from Cincinnati on I-71 and I-75.
Elizabethtown and Radcliff
Next to Fort Knox, south of Louisville on I-65 and US-31W.
Hopkinsville and Oak Grove
Fort Campbell and the 101st Airborne, on the Tennessee line.
Georgetown
Home of Toyota Motor Manufacturing Kentucky, just north of Lexington on I-75.
Owensboro
On the Ohio River in western Kentucky, where I-165 ends.
Frankfort
The capital, between Louisville and Lexington off I-64, with winding river streets downtown.
Paducah
Where the Tennessee River meets the Ohio, on I-24 in the far west.
Kentucky Questions
Can you ship a new Corvette from Bowling Green?
Yes. Whether you take delivery at the National Corvette Museum or buy from a dealer nearby, we can arrange transport home with a vetted carrier. For a brand-new car, enclosed transport keeps it out of the weather and road grime.
Do I need an inspection to register my car in Kentucky?
Yes, if it comes from out of state. The county sheriff’s office does a quick inspection, then you title and register at your County Clerk’s office. Check with your county clerk for what to bring and how long you have.
I’m moving to Fort Knox or Fort Campbell. Can you help?
Yes. Both posts are close to I-65 and I-24, easy stops for carriers. Have your orders and dates handy, and ask about our military discount; proof of service is required.
Will Derby week affect a pickup in Louisville?
It can. The Kentucky Derby is the first Saturday in May, and the days around it bring crowds and road closures near Churchill Downs. If your car is coming or going that week, pick a date before or after.
What does it cost to ship a car to or from Kentucky?
Distance, the vehicle, open or enclosed, and the season. A short run to Nashville or Cincinnati costs far less than the trip to Florida or Arizona. Get an exact quote or call (424) 453-1800.

Bowling Green and the Corvette
Every new Corvette is built at the GM plant in Bowling Green, and the National Corvette Museum is right next door, off I-65. Some buyers fly in to take delivery at the museum and ship the car home rather than drive it across the country. If that’s you, book the transport before your delivery date, and consider enclosed transport so the car arrives the way it left. See luxury car shipping for more.
Horse Country Pickups
Around Lexington, Versailles and Paris, many homes and farms sit down long, narrow lanes lined with four-board fences. A car carrier can’t turn around on most of them, so we meet at the main road or a lot in town. The same goes for hilly roads in Eastern Kentucky. Tell us about your road when you book, and we’ll plan the spot with the carrier.
Fort Knox and Fort Campbell
Fort Knox, south of Louisville, and Fort Campbell, home of the 101st Airborne on the Tennessee line, see families come and go on orders all year. Many drive one car to the next post and ship the other. Ask about our military discount, and see military car shipping for what to have ready.
