Terms of Service

The rules for using our website, requesting quotes and booking a shipment with us. Effective and last updated October 23, 2026.

These Terms of Service (“Terms”) are an agreement between you and Shelby Auto Transport LLC (“Shelby Auto Transport,” “we,” “us” or “our”). They apply when you use shelbyautotransport.com (the “Site”), request a quote, or book vehicle transportation arranged by us by any means, including by phone, text or email. Please read them carefully. By using the Site, requesting a quote or booking a shipment, you agree to these Terms. If you do not agree, do not use the Site or our services.

If you book a shipment, you will also receive a written booking confirmation. If the booking confirmation and these Terms conflict, the booking confirmation controls for that shipment.

Words Used in These Terms

  • “You” means the person using the Site, requesting a quote or booking a shipment, and anyone you book on behalf of.
  • “Carrier” means the independent, licensed motor carrier that physically transports your vehicle.
  • “Shipment” means the vehicle or vehicles you book with us for transport between the locations in your booking confirmation.
  • “Booking confirmation” means the written confirmation we send you when you book, with the details and price of your Shipment.
  • “Bill of lading” means the inspection report and receipt the Carrier’s driver and you sign at pickup and delivery.

1. Who We Are and What We Do

Shelby Auto Transport is an auto transport company that arranges the transportation of vehicles. We are registered with the Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration (FMCSA) under USDOT 3813762 and MC 1377368.

We are not a motor carrier. We do not own or operate trucks, and we do not employ drivers. When you book, we match your shipment with an independent motor carrier that holds its own FMCSA operating authority and insurance (the “Carrier”). The Carrier, not Shelby Auto Transport, takes possession of your vehicle and is responsible for loading, transporting, unloading and delivering it. The Carrier is an independent business and is not our employee, agent or partner.

Our role is to quote your shipment, find and assign a Carrier we have checked, share the information the Carrier needs, keep you informed, and help you if a problem comes up. Our arranging service is complete once a Carrier has been assigned and has picked up your vehicle, although we will keep helping you until it is delivered.

What the Carrier is responsible for

The Carrier is responsible for picking up, loading, securing, transporting, unloading and delivering your vehicle with reasonable care, for keeping its operating authority and insurance in force, for following safety and hours-of-service rules, and for the bill of lading. The Carrier may have its own terms, which appear on its bill of lading or other documents.

2. Using the Site

  • You must be at least 18 years old and able to enter into a binding agreement to request a quote or book a shipment.
  • You agree to give true, current and complete information and to keep it up to date.
  • You may use the Site only for lawful purposes and only to learn about or request our services.
  • You may not: copy, scrape or harvest content or data from the Site by automated means; send spam, false or fraudulent quote requests; try to get around our spam protection or security; upload anything harmful, such as viruses; interfere with the Site’s operation; or impersonate another person or business.

We may suspend or block access to the Site or refuse service to anyone who breaks these Terms or misuses the Site.

3. Quotes and Our Price Promise

A quote is our offer to arrange transportation of the vehicle you describe, between the locations you give us, in the timeframe you give us, by the type of carrier you choose (open or enclosed).

The price we quote is the price you pay. Good for 30 days, as long as your vehicle, route and dates stay the same.

Because the quote is based on the information you give us, the price may change if that information turns out to be different, or if you change it. For example:

  • the vehicle is a different year, make, model or size, or is modified (such as lifted, lowered, oversized tires, racks or added equipment);
  • the vehicle does not run, steer, roll or brake on its own (inoperable), when it was quoted as running;
  • the pickup or delivery location changes, or a large truck cannot safely reach the address and a different meeting point is needed;
  • your dates change, or you ask for a faster or more specific pickup;
  • you change from open to enclosed transport or add another vehicle.

If something changes, we will tell you the new price before your vehicle is picked up, and you can accept it or cancel. A quote is not a booking. Nothing is booked until you confirm it and we send you a written booking confirmation.

Prices shown on the Site, in articles or in examples are for information only and are not quotes.

Discounts. We offer discounts to some customers, such as military members and veterans, first responders and travel nurses, seniors and college students. A discount must be requested before your booking is confirmed. Proof of eligibility is required before pickup, and we may verify it; if it cannot be verified, the discount does not apply. Each discount is limited to one order per eligible person, cannot be combined with other discounts or offers, applies only to the transportation price we quote, has no cash value and cannot be transferred. We may decline or withdraw a discount if eligibility is unclear or the discount is misused, and we may change or end any discount at any time without notice. The terms on each discount’s page also apply.

4. Booking

When you book, we will send you a written booking confirmation by email or text describing your shipment: the vehicle, the pickup and delivery locations, the carrier type, the price, how and when payment is due, and the cancellation terms. Please check it right away and tell us if anything is wrong.

By booking, you confirm that you are the owner of the vehicle, or that the owner has authorized you to ship it, and that you have the right to release it to the Carrier. You also confirm that the vehicle is not subject to any lien, repossession, seizure or legal restriction that would prevent it from being shipped.

5. Payment and Cancellations

The payment methods we and the Carrier accept, when the balance is due (for example, at pickup or at delivery), and the cancellation and refund terms for your shipment are stated in your written booking confirmation. Those terms are part of your agreement with us.

  • Pay only as your confirmation says. Only pay amounts, to the parties and by the methods listed in your booking confirmation. If anyone, including a driver, asks for more money or a different payment method than your confirmation shows, do not pay. Call us right away at (424) 453-1800.
  • No payments on the Site. This Site does not take payments or collect card numbers.
  • Unpaid balances. If a balance is due at delivery and is not paid, the Carrier may not release the vehicle until it is paid, as allowed by law. We will work with you and the Carrier to resolve any dispute quickly.

6. Pickup and Delivery Dates

Pickup and delivery dates and times are estimates, not guarantees, unless your booking confirmation states a guaranteed date. Carriers plan routes around several vehicles and stops, and timing can be affected by weather, traffic, road closures, mechanical problems, federal driver hours-of-service limits, other customers’ schedules and events outside anyone’s control. The driver will usually call ahead before pickup and before delivery.

  • You, or an adult (18 or older) you choose, must be available at pickup and delivery to hand over or receive the keys and sign the inspection report.
  • If a large truck cannot safely reach the address, the driver may ask to meet at a nearby safe location, such as a large parking lot.
  • If no one is available at the agreed time, the Carrier may need to reschedule, and additional charges stated in your booking confirmation may apply.
  • Changing an address or date: tell us as soon as possible. We will check with the Carrier, and if the change affects the route or schedule, the price may change as described in section 3.
  • If delivery cannot be accepted: if no one can receive the vehicle and the Carrier cannot wait or come back, the Carrier may take it to a safe storage location nearby. Storage and redelivery charges, if any, are your responsibility, and we will help arrange the quickest way to get the vehicle to you.

We are not responsible for costs caused by a delay, such as rental cars, hotels, travel or lost time, except as stated in your booking confirmation or required by law.

7. Preparing Your Vehicle

  • Personal items: remove personal belongings. Carriers are not allowed to transport household goods in a vehicle, and personal items are generally not covered by the Carrier’s insurance. Neither we nor the Carrier are responsible for items left in the vehicle.
  • Fuel: leave about a quarter tank of fuel or less.
  • Accessories: remove or secure loose parts, toll tags, aftermarket accessories, bike racks and anything that could come loose. Fold in mirrors and lower or remove antennas where possible.
  • Alarms and keys: turn off alarms or tell the driver how to. Provide a working key for every lock and the ignition.
  • Condition: tell us about leaks, mechanical problems, low ground clearance and anything that affects loading. A vehicle that leaks fluids or is unsafe to load may be refused.
  • Photos: wash the vehicle and take clear, dated photos of every side before pickup. They help if there is ever a question about damage.

You are responsible for making sure the vehicle is safe to transport and legal to drive on and off the trailer, and for following any laws that apply to it, such as registration, emissions and title rules.

Do not ship any vehicle that contains hazardous materials, weapons, ammunition, illegal items or anything prohibited by law. You are responsible for any loss, fine or delay caused by items in the vehicle.

8. Inspection and the Bill of Lading

At pickup, you and the driver inspect the vehicle together and record its condition, including existing scratches, dents and damage, on the bill of lading (inspection report). Both of you sign it, and you should keep a copy.

At delivery, inspect the vehicle with the driver before you sign, in good light where possible. Write any new damage on the bill of lading before you sign it, and take photos. Signing the bill of lading without noting damage is generally treated as accepting the vehicle in good condition, and it can make a damage claim much harder or impossible.

9. Insurance and Damage Claims

Every Carrier we assign must have active FMCSA operating authority and insurance on file. Auto carriers typically also carry cargo insurance that covers vehicles while in their care, subject to the policy’s terms, limits and deductibles. You can ask us for the assigned Carrier’s insurance certificate before pickup.

If your vehicle is damaged during transport:

  1. note the damage on the bill of lading at delivery and take photos;
  2. call or email us as soon as possible, and within the time stated in your booking confirmation or the Carrier’s terms;
  3. keep copies of the bill of lading, photos and repair estimates.

Damage claims are made against the Carrier and its insurance, because the Carrier had possession of the vehicle. Claims for loss or damage to vehicles moving between states are governed by federal law, including 49 U.S.C. § 14706, which sets rules and time limits for claims against carriers. We will help you contact the Carrier, file the claim and follow up. Shelby Auto Transport is not an insurer and does not provide cargo insurance. Your own auto insurance policy may also provide coverage; check with your insurer.

Carrier insurance generally does not cover: damage noted at pickup or that existed before pickup; personal items; normal road dust, dirt or weather exposure on open transport; mechanical or electrical failures not caused by the Carrier; damage from loose or aftermarket parts you did not remove or disclose; and damage not noted on the bill of lading at delivery.

10. Calls, Texts and Emails

By requesting a quote or booking, you agree that we and the Carrier may contact you by phone, text message and email at the number and address you give us about your quote and shipment. Message and data rates may apply. Reply STOP to any text to stop texts, or tell us you no longer want to be contacted. This consent is not a condition of purchase. See our Privacy Policy for how we handle your information.

11. Reviews and Feedback

If you send us feedback or ideas, we may use them without any obligation to you. If you post a review about us on another website, it must reflect your honest experience.

12. Our Content

The Site and its content, including text, graphics, logos, illustrations and design, belong to Shelby Auto Transport or its licensors and are protected by law. You may view and print pages for your personal use in connection with our services. You may not copy, reproduce, change or distribute the Site’s content for any other purpose without our written permission. “Shelby Auto Transport” and our logos are our trademarks.

Information on the Site, including articles and tips, is general information, not legal, tax, insurance or professional advice. Rules such as vehicle registration deadlines change and differ by state and county, so check with the right agency.

13. Other Websites

The Site links to other websites, such as Google reviews, social media and government sites. We do not control them and are not responsible for their content, policies or practices.

14. Disclaimers

To the fullest extent allowed by law, the Site and its content are provided “as is” and “as available,” without warranties of any kind, express or implied, including warranties of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose and non-infringement. We do not guarantee that the Site will always be available, error-free or secure. We make no promise that a Carrier will be available for every route or date, and we do not guarantee pickup or delivery dates unless your booking confirmation says so in writing.

15. Limitation of Liability

To the fullest extent allowed by law:

  • Shelby Auto Transport is not liable for loss of or damage to a vehicle or its contents while in the Carrier’s possession, which is the Carrier’s responsibility as described in section 9, except where the loss or damage is caused by our own negligence or willful misconduct.
  • We are not liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential or punitive damages, or for lost profits, lost wages, loss of use, rental cars, travel or lodging costs, arising from the Site or our services, even if we were told they were possible.
  • Our total liability for any claim relating to a shipment or the Site is limited to the amount you paid to Shelby Auto Transport for that shipment, or $100 if you did not book a shipment.

Some states do not allow certain limits on liability, so some of these limits may not apply to you. Nothing in these Terms limits any liability that cannot be limited by law, or any rights you have under federal law that cannot be waived.

16. Indemnification

You agree to defend, indemnify and hold harmless Shelby Auto Transport and its owners, managers, employees and agents from claims, losses, damages and costs (including reasonable attorneys’ fees) arising from: your breach of these Terms; false information you give us; items or materials left in your vehicle; your lack of authority to ship the vehicle; or your violation of any law or the rights of another person.

17. Events Outside Our Control

We are not responsible for delays or failures caused by events outside our reasonable control, such as severe weather, natural disasters, fires, floods, accidents, road closures, government actions, strikes, pandemics, fuel shortages, or Carrier equipment breakdowns. We will keep you informed and work to get your shipment moving again as soon as possible.

18. Resolving Disputes

Talk to us first. Most problems can be solved quickly. Before starting any legal claim, please contact us at (424) 453-1800 or [email protected], describe the problem and what you would like us to do, and give us 30 days to try to resolve it.

Governing law. These Terms are governed by the laws of the State of California, without regard to its conflict-of-law rules, except where federal law applies.

Where disputes are heard. Any dispute that is not resolved informally will be heard in the state or federal courts located in Los Angeles County, California, and you and we agree to their jurisdiction. Either of us may instead bring an individual claim in small claims court if it qualifies.

Time limit. To the extent allowed by law, any claim must be brought within one year after it arises, or within any shorter period that applies to claims against the Carrier under federal law.

19. Notice for California Residents

Under California Civil Code § 1789.3, California users are entitled to this consumer rights notice: the Complaint Assistance Unit of the Division of Consumer Services of the California Department of Consumer Affairs can be reached in writing at 1625 North Market Blvd., Suite N 112, Sacramento, CA 95834, or by phone at (916) 445-1254 or (800) 952-5210.

20. Changes to These Terms

We may update these Terms from time to time. The updated Terms will be posted on this page with a new date. Changes apply from that date, but the Terms in effect when you booked a shipment continue to apply to that shipment.

21. General

  • Independent parties: you, we and the Carrier are independent of one another. Nothing in these Terms creates a partnership, joint venture, employment or agency relationship.
  • Entire agreement: these Terms, our Privacy Policy and your booking confirmation are the entire agreement between you and us about their subject.
  • Severability: if any part of these Terms is found unenforceable, the rest stays in effect, and the unenforceable part will be enforced as far as allowed.
  • No waiver: if we do not enforce a part of these Terms, that is not a waiver of our right to do so later.
  • Assignment: you may not transfer your rights under these Terms without our written consent. We may transfer ours as part of a merger, sale or reorganization.
  • Notices: we may give you notice by email or text to the contact details you gave us, or by posting on the Site.
  • Headings are for convenience only and do not change the meaning of these Terms.
