Slingshot Shipping
A Polaris Slingshot isn’t a car or a motorcycle, and it doesn’t ship quite like either. Two wheels up front, one in back, an open cockpit and a low nose. We match it with a carrier that knows how to load and tie it down.

What Makes a Slingshot Different
The three-wheel layout changes how it’s tied down. The carrier straps the two front wheels and the single rear wheel, instead of hooking the suspension. The nose is long and low, so it can scrape on a steep ramp. And the cockpit is open, so whatever the weather does on the trip, the seats and dash feel it.
Open or Enclosed?
Open transport is the lower price and works for a Slingshot that already lives outside. If it’s new, custom or freshly detailed, enclosed transport keeps rain, bugs and road grit out of the cockpit. Either way, skip the cover on an open truck. It flaps at highway speed, and that wears the paint underneath.
Getting It Ready
- Empty the cockpit, the lockable storage and the space behind the seats.
- Secure an aftermarket roof or take it off.
- Fold the mirrors if they fold.
- Leave about a quarter tank and a charged battery.
- Note any lowering, splitters or aftermarket wheels when you book.
- Photograph every side and the nose before pickup.
Buying a Slingshot Out of State
A lot of Slingshots ship from a dealer or private seller in another state. Sort out the title and payment with the seller before pickup, and give us their contact and hours. Each state also has its own rules for how a three-wheeler is registered and what license you need to drive one, so check yours before it arrives.
Slingshot Shipping Questions
Can a Slingshot ride on a regular car carrier?
Yes. It takes a normal spot and is tied down at the wheels. Because of the long, low nose, the driver needs a gentle ramp angle. Tell us about any lowering, splitters or aftermarket wheels.
Should I ship my Slingshot open or enclosed?
It’s built to be outside, so open works and costs less. But there’s no roof or windows to close, so rain and road grit get into the cockpit. For a new or custom Slingshot, enclosed keeps it clean.
Can I put a cover on it for the trip?
Not on an open carrier. A cover flaps at highway speed and can scuff the paint, and many carriers won’t load a covered vehicle. Enclosed transport is the better way to keep it covered.
Can a Slingshot and a motorcycle ship together?
Often, yes, if they’re going to the same place. Put both in one quote request.
How much does it cost to ship a Slingshot?
It depends on the distance, open or enclosed, and the time of year. Get an exact quote or call (424) 453-1800.
