“Just used Shelby Auto Transport to transport my golf cart. My dealings with Ray were 10 stars. Very efficient driver, Sumnar very pleasant young man. I would highly recommend this company. My first time using them but not my last.”

How a Golf Cart Ships
Golf carts ride on car carriers, flatbeds and enclosed trailers. The carrier ties the cart down at the frame or the wheels, so nothing presses on the plastic body or the roof supports. A stock 2-seater is small, but a lifted 6-seater with big tires takes up as much deck as a small car, so give us the real size.
Electric Carts: the Run/Tow Switch
Most Club Car and E-Z-GO electric carts have a Run/Tow switch, usually under the seat. In Run, the motor’s brake can hold the cart in place. In Tow, it rolls freely and the controller is off. Set it to Tow before the cart is loaded, and tell the driver where the switch is. If your cart doesn’t have one, or it runs on lithium batteries, ask your dealer how it should ride and tell us when you book.
Gas Carts
Leave a low tank, check for leaks and make sure the battery is tied down. That’s all a gas cart needs.
Street-Legal LSVs
Low-speed vehicles have a VIN and are titled and registered like cars. They ship the same way as a cart. If you’re moving to another state, look up how your new state registers LSVs before you arrive.
Getting Your Cart Ready
- Take off loose items: coolers, sand bottles, bag straps, phone mounts, seat covers.
- Remove enclosure curtains. They flap and tear at highway speed.
- Check the roof and windshield bolts. Fold a fold-down windshield if it locks in place.
- Flip and latch a rear seat kit so it can’t open.
- Charge it enough to drive on and off the truck, or tell us it has to be pushed.
- Photograph every side before pickup.
Golf and Retirement Communities
Plenty of carts ship to 55+ and golf communities, especially in Florida and Arizona. Many of them don’t let a full-size car carrier through the gate. Tell us the community and its rules, and we’ll plan a meeting spot at the entrance or a nearby lot. If you’re moving a car too, see snowbird car shipping.
Golf Cart Shipping Questions
Do I need to disconnect the batteries?
For most electric carts, set the Run/Tow switch to Tow so the cart rolls freely and the controller is off. If your cart has no switch, or you have lithium batteries, ask your dealer how they recommend it ride, and tell us when you book.
Can you ship a lifted golf cart or a 6-seater?
Yes. Tell us the lift, the tire size and the number of seats. Lifted carts are taller and wider, and 4- and 6-seaters are longer, so the carrier needs the real size.
Can a golf cart ship with my car?
Often, yes, if they’re going to the same place. Put both in one quote request and we’ll look for a carrier that can take both.
Can you deliver inside a gated community?
Many 55+ and golf communities limit big trucks. If yours does, the driver meets you at the gate or a nearby lot and you drive the cart in. Tell us the community rules when you book.
How much does golf cart shipping cost?
It depends on the distance, the cart’s size, and whether it rides open or enclosed. Get an exact quote or call (424) 453-1800.
