Shipping Vehicles

I used to love to take long drives. I would hop in the car and go 12 hours for a drive down to Orlando from my home in Virginia. Drive straight and only stop on the way down Interstate 95 for fuel or to hit the rest stop. Driving before the sunrise, or after dark never bothered me at all. To be honest I do not even remember getting very tired on those trips. Sure, when you stop it feels like you are still moving for an hour or so.

There was a time when I would time when I was leaving for the trip down to make it to my destination just in time to check in at my hotel. Now I look for ways to avoid long car trips. Since the lockdowns I have found that rental cars are much more expensive than they used to be. One solution was to fly in somewhere and if you were just there for a week or so to rent a car and that way you did not have to drive all that way.

Next I tried the car train. For my needs, however, it did not save a lot of time. I had to drive across the state to meet the train, wait in line to load my car, then travel through the train stops, and wait again to unload the car from the train. The auto train is costly. To move a standard car it is almost $500, and larger vehicles are more. Then unless you want to spend a full day in coach you will want to get a room and they are hundreds of dollars each way.

So, looking back my cost for the auto train was about $1,700 and it had to include all the loading and unloading time, not to mention the long train ride. With the loading and unloading of the cars it can be well over 17 hours of time on the train. If you get a room, it is not that bad of an experience but for me coach would not be fun.

Tips for Easy and Safe Vehicle Shipping

These days what I do instead when I go south for Winter is I book a cheap, and fast flight, and I ship my car.  Now you do need to ship your car ahead of time and have someone to meet the car on the other end. Or you can take an Uber to your 2nd home (condo) if you are like me. Then your car can be delivered as fast as the next day. I like saving as much as I can, so I am flexible on the delivery date and work with Shelby to find the best shipping rate possible.

Here are some tips for shipping your car state to state as a traveler. This is if like me you enjoy going South for the Winter, then back up North for summer so you do not burn up in the summer heat.

Vehicle Shipping Services

When considering the option to ship a car or truck instead of driving it, there are several compelling reasons that individuals may choose this method of transportation. One significant benefit is the protection it offers to your vehicle from potential road damage, accidents, and harsh weather conditions. By opting for professional car shipping services, you can ensure that your vehicle arrives at its destination in the same condition as when it was picked up. Additionally, the environmental benefits of reducing carbon emissions through vehicle shipping cannot be overlooked. By shipping your vehicle instead of driving it long distances, you contribute to the reduction of greenhouse gas emissions and promote a more sustainable mode of transportation.

Technological advancements have also played a crucial role in enhancing the efficiency and safety of car shipping services. With innovations in tracking systems and real-time monitoring, both customers and shipping companies can have better control and visibility over the transportation process. Moreover, the economic factors that make car shipping a cost-effective solution for long-distance transportation further add to the appeal of utilizing professional vehicle shipping services.

Seasonal Considerations for Auto Transport

When considering auto transport during the summer months, it’s crucial to understand the impact of peak demand on pricing and availability. For example, families moving to new locations or snowbirds returning home can significantly increase the need for car shipping services, leading to higher costs and potential delays. By being aware of these seasonal trends, you can plan ahead and secure your preferred shipping dates to avoid last-minute hassles.

Moreover, extreme weather conditions, such as heatwaves or summer storms, can also influence the logistics of vehicle transportation. These conditions may result in adjustments to shipping schedules and transit times to ensure the safety of both the vehicles and the transport personnel. By acknowledging these potential weather-related challenges, you can better prepare for any unforeseen circumstances and set realistic expectations for your summer car shipping experience. Additionally, aligning your shipment timeline with major holidays or peak moving seasons, as suggested by experts, can help streamline the process and minimize disruptions. This strategic planning can enhance the efficiency of your vehicle delivery and reduce the likelihood of encountering delays or complications along the way.

Furthermore, understanding the impact of fuel prices, carrier availability, and seasonal demand fluctuations on summer car shipping rates is essential for budgeting and planning purposes. Market dynamics during the summer season can lead to price variations and availability constraints, necessitating early booking and proactive decision-making to secure favorable rates. By staying informed about these factors and their influence on shipping costs, you can make informed choices that align with your budget and preferences, optimizing the value and efficiency of your summer vehicle shipping experience.

Prepping Your Vehicle For Shipping

How to Prepare Your Vehicle for Shipping

I just clean my car as if I was lending it to a friend. Sometimes I put a few bags in the car but please remember there is not a shipper who will insure items loose in your car. I placed mine in the trunk out of site and just a few bags for clothes. I do not recommend you stuff your car with items. Be smart and just say no.

I like to take a few quick photos with my cell phone mostly for peace of mind. Then I take the same shots when the car is delivered and compare. In all my shipping I have never had a problem but it best to be safe.
